I want smoke for much the same as the pepper spray grenades. Back in the day, you could buy M18 and M8 smoke for the insane price of about $20. Then some rumor that the Orcs from Mordor had determined the igniter was an explosive device and they when form $20 to impossible to find, then that seemed to be cleared up but the prices were $50-100. So F-it, what alternatives were out there? There are plenty of fuse types that require a match to light them but I always kinda figured Id be worried about more things then holding a match to a piece of fuse-if I needed smoke. I found 'pull pin' friction igniter type smoke. They aren't quite M18s but I whole lot better than lighting a fuse, and on the plus side they are under $20 (some under $10). Lemme be REAL CLEAR they are paintball quality NOT military grade. Even the big ones don't put out a ton of smoke. I just found some 'flare type' (as in you strike the match head top with the cap-like youre lighting a road flare) smoke 'grenades' They are actually shaped like road flares which may give them better throwing capabilities. I think these are intended more for signaling for boaters but they were cheap ($2.00) because they were past the expiration date.
What they will do is add to the confusion and cover the pepper spray-as in it 'looks' just like smoke until you get a face/lung full. Just another tool in the crate full of shite.
